PE at Holtsmere End Infant and Nursery School

At Holtsmere End Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to delivering a high-quality Physical Education curriculum that inspires a lifelong love of physical activity, teamwork, and healthy living. Through a carefully planned and progressive programme, aligned with the PE National Curriculum and supported by professional coaches from Watford FC, pupils develop fundamental movement skills, confidence, and a strong sense of wellbeing.
Our PE curriculum ensures that all children are active and engaged, with two hours of PE each week alongside at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity. From early development in EYFS through to Key Stage 1, pupils build skills in running, jumping, throwing, and coordination, progressing towards more complex activities. Inclusivity is at the heart of our approach, ensuring every child is supported and challenged to achieve their personal best.
Beyond lessons, pupils benefit from active playtimes, Forest School experiences, extracurricular clubs, and participation in local sporting events. These opportunities promote resilience, cooperation, and enjoyment, while reinforcing the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. The school have been actively fundraising for a ‘daily mile’ track with staff members climbing Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and walking a marathon around London. We hope to have the track installed over the Summer break 2026.
As a result, our children leave Holtsmere End as confident, enthusiastic, and physically capable individuals, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and motivation to remain active and healthy throughout their lives.
