Art at Holtsmere End Infant and Nursery School

At Holtsmere End Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to fostering creativity and self-expression through a rich and engaging Art and Design curriculum. We believe every child has the potential to be an artist, and we nurture this by providing diverse opportunities to explore a wide range of techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, and digital art. Our carefully structured curriculum supports the progressive development of skills, enabling pupils to build confidence, experiment creatively, and develop an understanding of artistic processes and language.
Art is embedded across the wider curriculum, with cross-curricular projects and inspiration drawn from great artists, designers, and craft makers. Children are encouraged to reflect on and evaluate their work, as well as appreciate the work of others, deepening their cultural understanding. We celebrate pupils’ creativity through displays, exhibitions, and our half-termly art gallery, where families are invited to share in their achievements.
Through this holistic approach, our pupils develop into confident, curious, and expressive individuals with a lifelong appreciation of art. They leave Holtsmere End equipped with the skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm to engage with and contribute to the creative world beyond the classroom.
