Summer Term 2, Week 7 - W/c 14.07.25
The penultimate week of term has been a fun-filled fantastic week. The children were great in all 3 of their performances of The Greatest Showpenguin! They enjoyed their celebration party on Thursday- it was such a lovely end to a fantastic year. The children have also been busy creating their op art inspired by the artist Bridget Riley and their finger puppets in DT.
Summer Term 2, Week 6 - W/c 07.07.25
Sports Day was a blast this week! Well done to all houses for their incredible effort and a huge well done to the green house for winning two years in a row! We have been busy rehearsing for our play this week and we are so excited for you to come watch us perform next Tuesday or Thursday.
Summer Term 2, Week 5 - W/c 30.06.25
This week in science, we build rafts for the gingerbread man to escape over a stream! The children thought carefully about which materials would be waterproof for the gingerbread man. We also tested what happens to objects and materials when they are heated. The children enjoyed making their predictions and observing the results. In maths, we were finding fractions of shapes and amounts. The children understood what ¾ means.
Summer Term 2, Week 4 - W/c 23.06.25
This week, we had our summer seasonal change day. We spent some time at the pond, looking for bugs, observing tree changes, creating nature art and (our favourite) eating refreshing, cold ice lollies. In maths, we began learning about fractions. We found half, quarter and thirds of amounts. In science, we ‘worked scientifically’ to predict and test which materials would be most absorbent. Our predictions were well reasoned and mostly correct!
Summer Term 2, Week 3 - W/c 16.06.25
This week in art week, we sketched shells we collected from the beach. We explored the different grades of pencils and identified which were best for adding detail and which were best for bold, dark lines. In English, we learnt about synonyms and grouped words with similar meanings. We then wrote a diary entry using our new vocabulary.
Summer Term 2, Week 2 - W/c 09.06.25
Our much-awaited trip to the seaside was so much fun! We paddled in the sea, made sandcastles, buried our friends (!!), created rock pools, found shells and ate ice cream! We had a great time and were so excited to see the features of the seaside that we had been learning about in geography. In maths, we divided by sharing and grouping, even moving on to explore remainders.
Summer Term 2, Week 1 - W/c 02.06.25
In maths this week, we used bar models to solve multiplication word problems. In English, we enjoyed working with partners to add subordinating conjunctions and extra information to their sentences. We wrote mini recounts based on the book we are reading. In computing, we started our ‘making music’ topic where we experimented with digital instruments and created melodies.
